is Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy is a health profession whose primary purpose
is the promotion of optimal health and function through the
application of scientific principals to prevent, assess, correct,
or alleviate acute or prolonged muscle dysfunction.
What is a Physical Therapist?
A Physical Therapist is someone who has graduated from an
accredited and is a state-licensed healthcare professional
trained to evaluate, create a treatment plan, and carry out
the treatment for a specific diagnosis.
What is a Physical Therapist
Assistant?
A Physical Therapist Assistant is a healthcare professional.
They are state-licensed with a 2 year degree trained to assist
the Physical Therapist and carry out the patients’ treatment
plan.
What should I do when my doctor
gives me a prescription?
- Call the clinic to set up your appointment
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Bring your MD referral and any applicable insurance information
with you
What will happen during my
first visit?
- You will fill out some very basic forms initially
- The evaluation will consist of a history of your present
illness, symptoms, tests you’ve had, medications,
recreational activity, and work
- You will then have tests to measure your sun, strength,
balance, gart transfer ability, and functional ability relating
to your diagnosis
- Lastly, you will receive treatment
- In whole, this will last about an hour
How do the therapists know
what to do?
- The doctor’s prescription will give a diagnosis
and possibly include a specific treatment.
- There are a variety of protocols for various diagnoses.
- Therapists are trained to plan treatments that are right
for each patient.
Who long will I need therapy?
- Your doctor will prescribe the frequency and duration
of your treatment
- You will notify us of your follow-up doctor visit
- Your Physical Therapist will communicate with your doctor
after the initial evaluation and will subsequent progress
reports and a join decision between all parties will determine
if you need to continue treatment
Will my therapy be painful?
The “No Pain, No Gain” does not apply here! We
will work with you to achieve the best results possible in
a tolerable level of pain – please let us know if you’re
having pain!
How often will I come for treatment?
Your doctor may have specified a specific number of visits
per week or left it open to the therapist. Generally it is
3 times per week but we will work with your schedule and condition
to achieve the best results.
What if I need to cancel or
reschedule?
Just give us a call at 772-466-9173. We will cancel and/or
reschedule your visit. We are very flexible and accommodating.
What is the goal of Advanced
Physical Therapy & Rehab?
- We want to evaluate your condition completely
- Communicate findings and results with your physician
- Treat your condition in a comfortable, well-equipped,
home-like environment.
- Teach you how to manage your condition and prevent further
injury
What will I have to pay?
As a courtesy we will file all insurance claims for you. Some
plans require a co-pay. If you know your co-pay, you can pay
per visit, per week, or we can bill you after payment is made
by your insurance company. We are very flexible. Please feel
free to speak with us regarding any hardship.
